(See the end of the chapter for more notes.) Okay, after all that: In the tradition of the Hobbits, I’ve decided to post this on my birthday as a present for all of you! So, enjoy!

My heart goes out to everyone, especially those who have died, lost loved on, struggled through surviving Covid, and each and every professional involved in the fights against the disease all around the world. I think we’ve all suffered to some extent from the Pandemic-we still are.

It’s an honest analysis of the modern world versus ancient times that fits in both Felicity’s thoughts, this scene, and this story. I honestly wrote this scene several years ago and can’t bring myself to change it so I hope it doesn’t offend anyone.

A major villain in Highlander did try to create a worldwide pandemic at one point though, so it created some context for Felicity’s thoughts here.

We’re still back in Arrow Season 1 & Covid never made it onto the show. I don’t mean to minimize the Covid-19 Pandemic in any way-and it’s not specifically what Felicity is thinking about. In a story titled ‘Haunted by History’ that shouldn’t be surprising. Felicity has lived through a lot, and she’s going to think about the past sometimes. Couples do have pillow talk, after all, and our favorite couple has a lot to talk about! ….Also a head’s up: there is some thought on historical plagues as well as ancient wars comparing them to modern times in this chapter. I don’t think it’s too unrealistic though.

Like Captain Atom and Blue Beetle, the vigilante originated over at Charlton Comics before DC Comics acquired the character in 1983. The character has a rather complicated history with DC Comics. In the absence of the League of Assassins, it's hard to argue that it might not be cool get the Brotherhood of the First moving in Star City.Īnd - again like Nyssa and Talia or, for that matter, The Huntress, she's alternately a villain or a kind of brutal antihero, depending on what circumstances and the story calls for. Like Ra's, she has a legion of followers, although there's less of a cult-like devotion and more of a mercenary sensibility to most of them, allowing for a relationship that's more like HIVE's or even Deathstroke's Mirakuru soldiers than the League of Assassins had. Lady Shiva, the mother of Team Batman member Cassandra Cain (formerly Batgirl, now Black Bat), is potentially the world's deadliest assassin and one of the few people to win a fight with Batman outright in the comics. A character who appeared in the short-lived Birds of Prey storyline, and another assassin in the vein of Talia al Ghul, Lady Shiva seems like a gimme when trying to find a way to revisit some of Arrow's past successes without the show turning its back on character progression made by people like Nyssa.
